Experience Clarity, Comfort, and Cost Savings with Energy Efficient Windows Australia!

Have you ever wondered why so many Australians are swapping their traditional windows for double glazed ones? Dive in to uncover the secret behind the rising trend and how it impacts your pocket!

Why Double Glazed Windows Are Winning Over Aussies

While the cost of double glazing plays a role in its popularity, there’s so much more to the story. In Australia, thermally broken aluminium has been the go-to for double-glazed windows for quite some time. However, a new player, uPVC, is steadily clinching the top spot, and it’s clear why.

The uPVC vs. Aluminium Window Debate

Aluminium windows were beloved for their lightweight nature, easy installation, sleek appearance, varied colour options, and durability, surpassing wood frames. They’ve been seen as a reliable choice with a commendable lifespan and resistance to issues like corrosion and warping.

However, aluminium frames do come with a share of drawbacks. Their susceptibility to elements, especially salt, makes them less ideal for seaside homes. Consequently, they don’t significantly lower your energy bills as uPVC does. They can lead to mould accumulation and heightened noise levels.

In contrast, uPVC windows boast a multi-chamber construction, offering superior thermal insulation. Their energy efficiency is impeccable, they curb external noise, are a breeze to maintain, and are resistant to rotting, corrosion, and fading. Add to this their steel reinforcement, and you have windows perfect for bushfire-prone regions.

High-Quality Double Glazing Without Breaking the Bank

The rising demand for uPVC windows indicates discerning choices are vital. It’s essential to source these windows from a trusted supplier to ensure value for your money. That’s where Energy Efficient Windows Australia comes into play. As a trusted and seasoned supplier, we prioritise your unique needs.

Our uniqueness lies in our comprehensive service – we design, craft, and set up the windows locally rather than outsourcing. This complete in-house approach guarantees the impeccable quality of our offerings and ensures flawless installation for optimal benefits.

Pricing Considerations for Double Glazed Windows

The expense of uPVC windows, akin to aluminium ones, hinges on various factors like size, design, shape, and installation location. Therefore, we meticulously inspect and measure your space, customizing each window for a snug fit.

While you’re free to explore alternative quotes for aluminium windows, our confidence stands in our competitive pricing, long-term energy bill reductions, and the aesthetic upgrade your property will undergo with our windows.

Final Words

So, when contemplating the switch to double glazed windows, remember: It’s not just about the price but the long-term value, efficiency, and aesthetic appeal. Energy Efficient Windows Australia is here to guide you through this transformative journey.

uPVC windows and uPVC doors can be incorporated into Queensland homes with great effect. They will dramatically decrease your electricity bill while assisting in maintaining a comfortable temperature in your house without even needing to touch the air conditioner!

An important question that our customers often ask us here at EE Windows is if our uPVC windows and doors are made in Europe, are they suited to withstand Australia’s high UV ratings? The answer is a big, resounding YES! Our uPVC window and door frames, profiles kindly supplied to us by REHAU, are specifically designed to resist the harsh UV radiation transmitted from the sun in our part of the globe. In this article, we take a closer look at why having UV resistant uPVC doors and windows are essential to the energy efficiency of your Queensland home and to your comfort during those hot summers.

The benefits of UV resistant uPVC windows and doors.

There are many benefits to installing UV resistant uPVC doors and windows in your house! We’ve picked some of these advantages below.

THEY DON’T FADE.

Maintaining your house can get exhausting. There’s always seems to be something that needs fixing, painting or adjusting. In Australia, faded paintwork is just another item on that long list. It could be the roof that needs a touch-up, the fence in the front yard, or perhaps your windows and doors. But with UV resistant uPVC window and door frames, updating faded paintwork is taken off the to-do list! EE Windows use uPVC door and window frames with a unique chemical makeup (above-average quantities of TiO2 stabilisers and impact modifiers, if you want to get technical) to ensure that their colour does not fade over time, no matter how fiercely the sun beats down on your home! This helps with maintaining colour consistency throughout your house and makes sure your house looks in top shape!

THEY DON’T WARP, PEEL OR CRACK IN HOT WEATHER

Unlike other window and door frame materials, uPVC will not warp, peel or crack under the stress of hot weather. Many people are worried that because uPVC is plastic, it will melt when temperatures become too hot. But uPVC is made from more durable plastic than your average shopping bag. The polyurethane present in uPVC window and door frames is incredibly weather-resistant and hardy. We reinforce our UPVC frames with steel for extra strength, resulting in a strong window and door system.

THEY DON’T CONDUCT HEAT.

Lastly, and most importantly when considering the energy efficiency of your Brisbane home, uPVC window and door frames do not conduct heat. This feature offers a distinct advantage over aluminium window and door frames, which are commonly found throughout Australia. No matter how much you crank your air conditioner, if you have aluminium window frames, you’re still going to feel the heat from outside because that heat has been absorbed by the aluminium frames. It results in a massive waste of energy and expensive electricity bills. uPVC door and window frames, however, assist in keeping the cool air inside your home and maintaining a comfortable temperature even on those above thirty-degree days. With uPVC windows and doors, you’ll notice massive savings when you receive your energy bills, as you won’t have to overwork your air conditioner.

Want to know more about how you can enhance the energy efficiency of your Queensland home? Read our article here about combining uPVC window and door frames with double glazing!
There are a variety of reasons why making your home more energy efficient is beneficial, from lower electricity bills, and increasing your home sale value to reducing your carbon footprint. Cutting down on your energy usage can start in simple steps and graduate to larger home improvements and at EE Windows, our products are created with energy efficient design at the forefront of our minds. We have put together a list of simple swaps you can make to begin cutting down energy usage in your home.

LIGHTING

Keeping a home light and bright is something that most of us consider a priority, so trying to do so in an energy efficient way is something that should definitely be high on your priority list. Ensuring that you are only using lights when you need them should be the first (free) change that you make. Try to make it a habit to switch off the light as soon as you exit any room in your home that is not in use. When you are using your lights however, swapping to an energy efficient bulb is a great way to cut back on your energy usage. CFLs and LEDs are both fantastic options that will reduce your energy usage when compared with traditional bulbs.

APPLIANCES

Choosing the appliances in your home is a big decision, as they are items that typically stick around for a while and get a lot of use. Many electric appliances burn through energy but by making careful choices you can actually save energy. Ensuring you are opting for an appliance with a high energy star rating is a great way to immediately know that you’re choosing a better, greener option. Many of these high energy star appliances have been made specifically with energy efficiency in mind and so they may also feature an eco setting that will use the least amount of energy and water.

INSULATION

Insulating homes is something that is not always at the forefront of many Aussies’ building plans. It’s easy to forget about insulation in such a warm climate, but it actually helps keep your home much more comfortable all year round by helping to keep the indoor temperature cool during summer. Even if you’ve already built your home or have moved into a property that’s already established, you can still add insulation. When running your air conditioning or heating, insulation will help your home to maintain its temperature, which means shorter and less frequent periods of use. There are different forms of insulation that require the help of a professional and some that you can even install yourself.

WATER

Hot water systems can take a heavy toll on your bills when they are of the inefficient electric variety. Less than half of all Australian homes use electric water heaters, yet they contribute to 80% of hot water greenhouse emissions. Water heaters don’t all run at this ineffective standard. There’s renewable energy sources like solar, and while these are an investment at first, they will lighten your carbon footprint and your bills significantly over the course of their lifetime. Ensuring that you install your system in the sunniest spot available around your home is going to help it run at its most optimal level. Solar hot water systems, when working efficiently, can cover 90% of your hot water usage for free and without any greenhouse gas emissions.

WINDOWS

One of the largest contributors to heat and cooling loss are windows as, traditionally, they have no in-built insulation. Double glazed windows are a perfect insulation solution for when you have nowhere to hide traditional insulation, like fibreglass. Double glazed windows are designed with two panes of glass and an air gap in between to provide a strong barrier against hot or cold weather, a barrier that is totally absent in traditional window fittings that usually only consist of one pane that is a couple millimetres thick.

Our windows are all designed with maximum energy efficiency in mind, so much so that the phrase is literally in our name! Contact us today for more information on how you can start making steps towards a more energy-efficient, environmentally friendly home.

But with a multitude of properties and developments on offer to new buyers in Queensland, architects, property developers and builders of high-end properties, must stand out amongst the crowd by including unique features in new builds.

Double glazed windows and doors paired with uPVC frames are fast becoming ‘must-haves’. Here’s why you need to consider double glazing and uPVC features for your next build.

Naturally eco-friendly

Now, more than ever, families and investors are looking for properties which seamlessly integrate environmentally friendly features into designs which exude luxury. Double glazed windows paired with uPVC frames combine the latest technology and contemporary style, minimising negative impacts on the environment while simultaneously reducing electricity bills. Double glazed doors and windows promote natural insulation, keeping unwanted hot air and chilly winds out, as well as keeping your electricity bills down. Combined with uPVC frames, instead of traditional aluminium frames, they provide superior insulative qualities and prevent high temperatures from entering the building during hot months. The strong, stiff and durable plastic frames are the perfect accompaniment for double glazed window and doors.

Breathtaking views while keeping the Queensland heat out

While the incredible lifestyle and vibrant sunshine entices buyers to make the move Brisbane, the beautiful summer days can quickly become scorching. Moreover, buyers are looking to bring the outside in with sweeping, floor to ceiling views of cityscapes, landscaping, hinterland, and oceans. This means creating luxury homes which are comfortable year round, even in summer, is essential for Queensland living. Double glazed windows paired with uPVC frames are the perfect solution. Think chic french doors, elegant bi-folds or even a 9-meter lift and slide door, which can be drawn back on cool summer nights for a seamless transition from lounge to deck.

Privacy, security and sound insulation

In the hustle and bustle of the city, privacy, security and sound insulation are essential. For this reason, double glazed windows and doors are must-haves. Not only do they offer superior insulation but they provide an expert sound-proof quality. And, when combined with uPVC frames, they provide incomparable protection the elements, such as howling winds in high-rises and noisy traffic in inner-city homes.

Need a supplier and installer for your next build or development? EE Windows has a wide range of experience across various projects.
Beautiful windows are possibly the most complex and interesting elements in the fabric of our homes. They provide light and fresh air and offer views that connect the interior with the exterior. However, ordinary single glazed windows can also represent a major source of unwanted heat gain in summer and significant heat loss in winter.

Recently, remarkable new framing and glazing materials have changed the energy performance of windows in a radical way.

Energy efficient double glazed windows effectively provide window insulation and will make your home more comfortable while dramatically reducing your energy costs and helping create a brighter, cleaner and healthier environment.

Glass performance definitions

SHGC = Solar heat gain co-efficient. SHGC measures how well a product blocks heat caused by sunlight. SHGC is expressed as a number between 0 and 1. The lower the window’s SHGC, the less solar heat it transmits.

U-Value = Thermal insulation properties expressed in watts x m2 per degree Celsius. U-Value measures how well a window or door prevents heat from escaping. It is the measure of rate of non-solar heat loss or gain through a material or assembly. U-values generally fall between 2.0-10.0 W/m2 K. The lower the U-value, the greater a window’s resistance to heat flow and the better its insulating value. The U-value for a window takes into account the components that make up the window e.g. the framing material. Timber and uPVC being an inert material will always have a lower U-value compared with aluminium. Heat transfer through a typical single glazed aluminium window = 100% compared with 54% for uPVC or timber framed double glazed window.

IGU = Insulated Glass Unit (double glaze unit)

Low-e glass = The ‘E” in low-e refers to emissivity. The emissivity is a measure of a material’s ability to radiate energy. Glass with ‘low’ emissivity absorbs and radiates infrared energy poorly which is the key factor in reducing heat transfer. Where greater solar and thermal control is required, reflective and low-e glass can be used. A pyrolytic coating is applied during glass manufacture. When low-e glass is used, care must be taken when cleaning the glass. Under no circumstances can abrasive cleaners be used.

What is double glazing?

Traditional window glazing consisted of a single sheet of glass within your window sash. Double glazing refers to a sealed glass unit comprising two sheets of glass separated by a spacer bar around the outside of the glass. The spacer bar creates an air gap between the glass panes. It is this gap that creates the insulation break between the inside and outside of the window. Double glazing also controls noise while not impeding the view.

Which windows and doors should be double glazed? The answer is all of them. Double glazing allows the low winter sun to stream through and warm your home and once the sun’s radiant heat has passed through the double glazed unit, the room retains the ambient heat, preventing heat loss back through the glass.

What is the optimum air gap between the two panes of glass? For maximum performance the space between the two panes should be about 9 mm however increasing the air gap to over 15 mm will not provide any extra significant thermal benefits.

What about sun on double glazing?

Double glazing does not impede solar heat gain therefore it will still allow winter sun through. Unprotected double glazed windows will still require appropriate summer shading.

The best solution for managing solar heat gain is to actually shade your north and west facing windows in summer, but allow the sun to stream through in winter. Tinted glass will help reduce heat transfer in summer but equally blocks the valuable solar heat gain in winter. Once the sun is off the glass the double glazing effectively insulates your home from heating up in summer and prevents heat loss in winter.

Are double glazed windows very expensive?

Double glazing is more expensive than single glazed windows. However, the initial cost should be offset against savings made by reduced energy required to heat and cool your home and the subsequent carbon emissions. Also, double glazing can negate the need for expensive heavy duty curtains. Double glazing will add capital value to your home. It’s good all round – all round the home and all round the year!

Our TIMBER windows & doors come with the first coat of Cutek CD50 oil tinted to your colour choice OR white paint primed base coat meaning that all the timber is sealed prior to assembly and glazing. The result is a window or door that is completely sealed from water penetration and makes for applying the top coats after installation a breeze.
*A second coat of Cutek oil must be applied within 1 month of delivery. Failure to do so will void any warranty.

Your Timber doors and windows have been manufactured to last for years, but as with any piece of fine furniture, the finish will require some simple periodic maintenance to keep it looking its best and to provide protection from the elements. We recommend that you maintain wood products exposed to exterior environments annually. If your doors or windows receive a lot of moisture or direct sunlight (Northern and Western exposures, for example), you will want to examine the finish often. Watch for drying and fading, and plan your maintenance accordingly.

To maintain your Timber windows that have had an Oil finish, simply clean the timber and let dry. Simply apply a top coat to Cutek CD 50 in your original colour tint with a brush. The oil will bring back the rich colour of the wood. If your timber has silvered off, simply apply Cutek Proclean and then apply your Cutek CD 50 oil. Your windows and doors will be nourished once again and looking like new.

The maintenance of PVC-U windows & doors is very simple. They can be cleaned using a soft, damp sponge, soaked if required in a non-abrasive household detergent. Never use an abrasive product, corrosive liquids or solvents.

Clean the glass inside and out as normal. The space between panes is sealed against dust and moisture, so never needs cleaning.

Sashes and Frames

A simple wash with soapy water will keep your uPVC frames looking new for decades. If your windows or doors have Colonial or Federation bars, the bars are sealed between the two panes of glass so you never need to clean them or collect dust.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Do not clean the windows with a dry cloth, to avoid scratching the surface.

Never paint uPVC profiles

Tilt n Turn Windows

As the sashes in tilt n turn windows open inwards, cleaning is a breeze. No need for ladders as all the cleaning can be done from the inside.

Maintenance of the Gaskets

It is advisable to powder the seals with talc once a year so that they retain their flexibility. This will also give them an increased length of life. They should not, however, be allowed to come into contact with concentrated detergents or with products manufactured from them.

Maintenance of Hardware

The uPVC windows and doors are fitted with high quality hardware. In order to make it work properly, all the moving parts should be checked at least once per year and lubricated if necessary. In addition, the tilt and turn mechanism might have to be adjusted occasionally: Energy Efficient Windows Australia can carry out this work if necessary.

While six-star energy ratings have been the bare minimum for homes in many countries for quite some time, Australia has only recently adopted this standard in a few states.

Considering most countries across Europe made a move to sustainable construction around thirty years ago, it’s safe to say that Australia is, comparatively, very behind the times. So why is Australia so lacking in energy efficient homes? We believe that it may come from a few misconceptions that have unfortunately ingrained themselves in the Australian psyche.

Misconception 1: Double glazed windows are just to keep the heat in.

There seems to be a common misunderstanding amongst Australian homeowners that double glazing is a luxury afforded to those living in the world’s coldest climates. However, there is a range of benefits that double glazing can have for homes that experience extremely hot weather, such as those situated in Queensland.

A recent article written by Sophi MacMillan, drawing information from the Australia Glass and Glazing Association, states that:

“Standard glazed windows contribute to 87% of the summer heat gain in a typical Australian insulated home. Using double glazing can result in significant savings of 40% off energy bills for heating and cooling.”

Double glazing, while very effective at keeping heat within the home, is also extremely efficient at keeping hot air out. This means much better performing air conditioning inside your house in Summer. The less you have to crank the air con, the better, as we all know from the shock we get every time our energy bill comes through!

Misconception 2: Insulated window frames in Australian homes will just block the breeze.

Unfortunately, UPVC (unplasticised polyvinyl chloride) window frames are not standard in Australia. UPVC is a very rigid and durable type of plastic that is commonly used in window frames in the UK, Europe and the US, combined with double glazing, to produce the most energy-efficient windows on the market. In Australia, most window frames are made from standard aluminium with single glass panels, which do not insulate the home as effectively.

Many homeowners are under the impression that to install windows with superior insulation will result in a lack of airflow throughout the house. We all know that sense of relief when the cool breeze finally stirs, and we can switch off the air con and throw the windows open. This can still be achieved with UPVC window frames and double glazing! Many UPVC window frames now offer a wide range of configurations upon installation, including bi-fold windows, casement and awning windows, sliding windows and tilt ‘n’ turn windows. All are specifically designed to capture the breeze that flows through your home. With UPVC window frames, you can enjoy the best of both worlds. Keep your house cold with the air con on when it’s humid outside (and there isn’t a wisp of wind), but also catch that delicious breeze when it finally stirs. These are just a few of the advantages that can be enjoyed, along with a decrease in your energy bill.

Misconception 3: Aluminium window frames are the most durable and effective.

When it comes to designing a new home, it can be very tempting to stick with what we know, and install materials that have been used in Australian homes for centuries. But this mentality is what is holding Australians back from enjoying better energy efficiency in their houses.

Aluminium window frames are one of the most common types of window frames in Australia and can be quite durable. However, when compared to UPVC window frames, they’re significantly lacking. Here are just a few of their faults:

Because aluminium is a metal, it collects heat and radiates it back into your home.

Aluminium window frames aren’t as airtight, allowing the cool air from your air con to escape your home.

Aluminium window frames corrode easily, especially in houses situated near the coast and saltwater winds.

Aluminium window frames are expensive to purchase and costly to maintain.

UPVC window frames, in contrast, are much more cost-effective. They save you much more money on energy bills in the long run, with their superior insulation. UPVC will prevent the cold air from escaping your house. This type of window frame won’t rust or rot in inclement weather, and when combined with double glazing, will actually protect your house from extreme Queensland storms and bushfires. Your window sills will be easy to clean and maintain, too – just a bucket of soapy water and a clean cloth. To top it all off, UPVC is incredibly durable and will last upwards of 25 years!

It’s critical that Australian homeowners consider the energy efficiency of their homes more seriously. It’s better for the environment, and better for your wallet! If you choose to install UPVC window frames and double glazed windows in your new home build, it’ll significantly increase its property value.
Living on the Queensland coastline comes with its fair share of benefits. The beach is at your doorstep, you’re lulled to sleep by the sound of crashing waves at night, and wake up to those gorgeous sparkling blue views in the morning.

But calling Queensland’s popular beachfront areas such as the Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast, home, also has a few drawbacks. We know, it’s shocking to hear! But that beautiful ocean spray can often wreak havoc on the windows and doors of properties framed with metal. And the salt water borne on those delicious coastal breezes carries with it the promise of corrosion and rust. So how can you combat these evils to ensure that they don’t spoil your airy, open beachfront home? There’s a secret that we’re going to share with you, and it’s all about using uPVC in your window and door frames rather than aluminium.

What’s uPVC?

Ok, so that unveiling probably didn’t have the shock factor that we wished for. Mostly because many Australians aren’t aware of what uPVC (unplasticised polyvinyl chloride) is. This isn’t surprising because uPVC is a material commonly associated with European homes. So what does uPVC, used in homes chiefly from colder climates, have to offer Australian houses? Firstly, uPVC is a durable and incredibly strong type of plastic that is used in window and door frames. Have you guessed its benefits for coastal Aussie homes yet?

It doesn’t rust!

Why replace aluminium door and window frames with uPVC?

So why hasn’t this wonderful corrosion preventer gained widespread popularity in Australia yet? We believe many Aussies may be sceptical about uPVC because aluminium is such a conventional building material here. While it’s true that aluminium is very sturdy, it also has many pitfalls that make it far more costly to maintain in the long run. For one, it rusts quickly when exposed to coastal winds carrying salt in the air, meaning that it needs to be replaced often. Secondly, it isn’t as energy efficient. Because aluminium is a metal, it tends to absorb heat, and then radiate it back into your home, compromising the hard work that your air conditioner is doing on those above thirty degree Summer days.

Using uPVC and double glazing to protect your home from the Australian climate

Another reason that may explain why Australians are late adopters of uPVC is that this type of framing is often associated with double glazed windows, which in turn are almost always linked to colder climates. Why would Aussies need double glazed windows? For a vast variety of reasons! They’re fantastic sound insulators, they’re incredibly energy efficient when it comes to keeping the air-conditioned air in your house and the hot air out, and they can protect your home from storms, damaging winds and even bushfires. Phew! We get a little passionate about advocating the many benefits of double glazing for Australian households. But back to uPVC. Australians often also wonder where their much-loved and needed fly screens would go when installing these types of windows and doors. But the fact is that it’s so easy to fit insect screens into a large variety of windows and doors that enjoy both uPVC frames and double glazing.

Other undeniable benefits of using uPVC

uPVC window frames provide superior insulation for your home (especially when combined with double glazing!). There are no cracks where cool air can escape, or salty air can creep in. This provides protection for all of the lovely homewares you may also enjoy in your house, like that stainless steel antique plate you have hanging on your wall. If you expose metal items such as this to a constant sea breeze, you’ll find that they will corrode quickly. This is why having uPVC windows and doors installed on the wind-facing walls of your home is such a good idea.
Here are just a few more benefits of using uPVC.

uPVC is easy to clean – you just need a bucket of soapy water and a soft cloth.

uPVC lasts upwards of 25 years!

uPVC won’t rot from exposure to moisture, like many wooden window and door frames in coastal homes.

uPVC can be installed in a variety of windows and doors, from casement and awning to tilt’n’turn, bifold and sliding.

Do you own a luxury home and want to increase its value? Or are you an architect or property developer of high-end homes keen to offer buyers only the most opulent abodes?

Buyers of luxury residences have a lengthy list of expectations when it comes to must-have features. And they simply won’t settle for less. So if you’re going to appeal to the wealthy, you need to have the lowdown on what they’ll be keeping an eye out for. Incorporating these elements into your existing home or property design is a smart move, whether you’re upgrading your house or you wish to attract the affluent. Here are the most highly sort after features for a luxury home.

Prime location.

Location, location, location! It’s the first thing buyers consider; where do they want to live? What kind of neighbourhood can they expect? Is the street that the property is on well-respected, or does it have a history associated with aristocracy? If it’s an apartment, is it the penthouse? If it’s freestanding, does it have a spectacular garden? If it’s in the country, acreage is a must, while if it’s in a city, views are wholeheartedly expected.

Uninterrupted views.

We aren’t just talking about a room with a view here. We mean sweeping floor to ceiling views available from most of the property. Ocean or harbour views are the real winner here, but city views are also highly sought after in landbound locations. This is why it’s so important to have the right kind of windows and doors installed, namely, lots of glass! Stock standard doors and windows just won’t do. For this kind of property, the doors and windows need to be custom made to compliment the view. Think chic french doors or elegant bi-folds that can be drawn back on the perfect Summer’s day for a seamless transition from lounge to deck during parties and soirees.

Privacy.

Now here’s the catch. Luxury homes require breathtaking, unbroken views, but also need to be private. In the city, it’s especially vital for luxury abodes to be soundproof. And if the property is a penthouse, it’s going to need solid window frames to keep the whistling and howling of the wind from reaching indoors. For this reason, double glazing is a must-have feature. It offers superior sound insulation, and when combined with uPVC window frames, incomparable protection from the elements while still maintaining those amazing views at all times. Another vital feature to ensure complete privacy is high-quality window shades, curtains or roller shutters. Achieving the perfect combination of elegant and functional here is critical. Any shadings for the windows must flawlessly fit with the interior design, and be exceptionally easy to operate.

Plenty of space.

Pokey apartments and small, dark houses are not the residences of the affluent. Light and space is highly sought after in a luxury home. Properties that incorporate polished, expansive areas both indoors and outdoors are extremely popular. Large entertainment areas, in particular, are regarded as essential, with a natural flow from the inside of the home, to a deck or balcony.

Smart home technology.

Smart home technology is continuously evolving, and designer homes need to have the latest in innovation. Gone are the days when clap on lights were the ultimate indulgence. Nowadays the lights, air conditioning, locks and security cameras can all be controlled via a smartphone. Google Home and Alexa are the forerunners of smart home technology, though many brands on the market are compatible with both Apple and Android devices. If you can’t dim the lights via your phone while sitting on the lounge watching a movie, are you really living a lavish life at all?
